Today we are introducing Runway Labs, an internal incubator dedicated to exploring the next generation of applications for generative video.

Since we started Runway, we have focused on validating one idea: that anyone with the right tools can share their story and create experiences that weren't possible before.

We're now at an inflection point. AI video and General World Models are going to transform every industry: film, healthcare, education, gaming, advertising, sports, retail, real estate, training and beyond. We're early enough to define what that looks like, and we believe the impact of this technology will be felt across a wide range of new markets and applications.

Runway Labs will focus on unlocking and discovering what those applications are, and how our models can power a new generation of products and experiences. This incubator gives us the space to prototype boldly and discover products and applications that don't exist yet.

Alejandro Matamala Ortiz, Co-Founder and Chief Innovation Officer, will lead Runway Labs together with a team dedicated to incubating experimental products at the frontier of AI video and General World Models.
