Runway Expands Collaboration with NYU Tisch School of the Arts

Runway is deepening its collaboration with NYU Tisch School of the Arts, bringing access to Runway's tools to two of its most innovative programs: the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) and Interactive Media Arts (IMA), as well as the Hyper Cinema Lab, an NYU-wide initiative housed within Tisch.

ITP and IMA sit at the intersection of technology, art and communication, drawing students who are building new forms of creative expression from the ground up. The Hyper Cinema Lab, open to students across NYU, pushes the boundaries of cinematic storytelling through emerging media and tools.

Students in both programs will receive access to Runway's full suite of AI tools as they develop both required coursework and personal projects, explore new workflows and prepare to enter industries being reshaped by AI.

“AI is having a transformative impact on the creative fields that Tisch students are preparing to become leaders in,” said Rubén Polendo, dean of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. “For 60 years, our school has emphasized rigorous inquiry and creative innovation to shape the next generation of artists, and we are excited to continue that tradition with Runway. This collaboration will assist students in generating new knowledge around their work with AI, and Runway's artist-first approach aligns with and deepens that investment.”

"NYU Tisch has always been a place where the next generation of creative leaders are trained," said Cristóbal Valenzuela, CEO of Runway. "ITP was essential education for me and my co-founders – it’s where Runway was born. We're excited to work with ITP, IMA and the Hyper Cinema Lab to give students hands-on experience with tools that are changing what's possible in film, art and media. The work coming out of these programs will shape what creativity looks like for years to come."
